Unforgettable Summer Adventures of 2025: Exploring Alberta, Montana, and Beyond!

As summer unfolds in 2025, the adventures we have experienced are truly remarkable. June, July, and August flew by with breathtaking landscapes, exhilarating events, and cherished memories. From the stunning views of Alberta’s Banff National Park to the excitement of the Calgary Stampede and the warm hospitality of Lake Charles, Louisiana, this summer has been exceptional! Let’s dive into the highlights of our travels.

Alberta: Nature’s Playground

Our summer journey began in Alberta, where we embraced the stunning natural beauty of Banff National Park. With enchanting mountains, serene lakes, and abundant wildlife, Banff showcases the best of Canada's wilderness.

The highlight of our visit was Lake Louise. Picture this: emerald waters reflecting the towering peaks of the Rockies, an idyllic spot for hiking, picnicking, or simply soaking in the scenery. Hiking the trails around Lake Louise offers accessibility for everyone; from easy strolls to long treks, the park caters to all levels of adventurers. I'll be honest though, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake although still beautiful, the hordes of tourists and lack of amenities available really disappointed me. It's too touristy now, and difficult to navigate through the crowds of people.

Our experience at the Calgary Stampede was unforgettable. This iconic 10-day event celebrates Western culture and heritage, attracting over a million visitors each year. The energy was alive as we wandered through the fairgrounds, indulging in local delicacies such as mini donuts and beef on a bun. The rodeo competitions, featuring cowboys and cowgirls showcasing their skills, captivated the crowd.

The highlight of our evening was the performance by Shania Twain, who electrified the audience with her greatest hits. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, dance, and shared joyous moments. The Calgary Stampede truly embodies the spirit of Alberta.

Sylvan Lake Getaway

Next, we ventured to Sylvan Lake in Central Alberta for a relaxing retreat. This picturesque location features sandy beaches and clear waters, making it perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or a leisurely paddle in a kayak.

We enjoyed local cuisine at small-town eateries that offered hearty fare. Exploring the charming shops along the waterfront was delightful, allowing us to soak in the community vibe. Sylvan Lake was a calming spot that offered us a much-needed break, with laughter and vibrant sunsets casting a tranquil glow over the water.

If you’re considering a summer getaway, Sylvan Lake is a hidden gem worth exploring. A local favorite is the Sylvan Lake Provincial Park, offering several trails and access to allowed pets for family adventures.

Venturing into Montana

Our journey didn’t end in Canada; we made our way south to Montana! Our first destination was Yellowstone National Park, famous for its stunning geysers, vibrant hot springs, and diverse wildlife.

Grand Prismatic Spring was breathtaking, with vivid colors creating an inspiring landscape. During our visit, we spent hours hiking along the various trails, experiencing nature's wonder firsthand. Yellowstone is indeed a treasure trove for nature lovers, drawing nearly four million visitors annually.

After an exhilarating day at Yellowstone, we relaxed at Chico Hot Springs. Soaking in the natural hot springs, surrounded by the Absaroka Mountains, was the perfect end to our day, rejuvenating our tired bodies.

The route through the Beartooth Mountains was another highlight. The winding roads offered breathtaking overlooks, with every twist and turn revealing spectacular views that demanded to be photographed.

Discovering Red Lodge and Cody

After the beauty of the Beartooth Mountains, we arrived in Red Lodge, Montana. Known for its small-town charm, Red Lodge blends adventure and leisure harmoniously, with quaint shops and delightful dining options.

We strolled through the streets, enjoying the welcoming atmosphere. The highlight was discovering local favorites, including artisanal shops and bakeries that offered homemade treats, reminding us of the warmth of small-town living.

Next, we visited Cody, Wyoming, recognized as the “Rodeo Capital of the World.” Attending a thrilling rodeo performance, we were amazed by the incredible skills on show. The cheers from the crowd created a sense of excitement that was contagious. Our TikTok LIVE we did there was so much fun, although the weather did not cooperate. We toured the Irma Hotel and I educated you all on the history, activities and even chatted with a local during the LIVE. I had a blast!

The Charming Vibes of Lake Charles

We rounded off this thrilling summer in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where warm Southern hospitality welcomed us. Known for its vibrant food scene, we indulged in delicious Cajun cuisine and immersed ourselves in local culture.

Lake Charles is home to the scenic lakes and numerous festivals, making it an ideal spot to unwind. Taking the time to explore local attractions, we were able to experience the rich culture and hospitality unique to Louisiana. We stayed at the Golden Nugget Casino & Resort and enjoyed a good pool day, some casino fun, and some amazing food and drinks. I would definitely recommend a stay there!

The beautiful waterfront views provided a perfect backdrop for reflection on our unforgettable summer. It’s hard to believe how much we've packed into just a few months!
