Europe and Caribbean: My first Trip back in '95

Today in the podcast I talked about my journey from dreaming of being a radio broadcaster to becoming a seasoned traveler who loves connecting with people. I've had some amazing travel experiences, from chilling in the Caribbean to exploring Europe. I've had many unforgettable moments, like visiting historical sites in Dachau and Rome, and enjoying meals and experiences with locals. Through my podcasts, I hope to share more travel stories and inspire others to explore new places. When I was younger, I wanted to be a radio broadcaster, but when I found out the pay wasn't great, so I changed course. I've since had a varied career but always loved and desired to travel instead. I still have my travel agent's license and have retained it for the last 25 years. I'm nearing retirement now and I want to focus more on my passions, like traveling and podcasting, and connecting with all of you. I plan to bring friends and travel pros onto the show to share their amazing experiences. Hopefully, their stories will spark your interest in travel too. I love podcasting and traveling and excited to combine them together and have some fun!

Caribbean, anywhere, my go-to for warmer weather!
Caribbean, anywhere, my go-to for warmer weather!

Let's talk about some of my favorite travel experiences. I absolutely love tropical vacations and have been to the Caribbean more times than I can count—Jamaica, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, you name it! The weather is perfect, and the water is always warm. Just watch out for hurricane season from June to September and definitely get travel insurance.

I also love places where you can walk everywhere, like Europe. My first trip there was in '95. I visited Amsterdam, Germany, Italy, France, and Belgium during the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. I'm a huge history buff, so visiting places like Anne Frank's house and Dachau was incredibly moving. Rome is one of my top three favorite places—there's just so much history and amazing food. In the south of France, we stumbled upon the Cannes Film Festival. It was such a coincidence, but we hit the perfect dates for everything. We met so many great people, and the whole experience was unforgettable.

Traveling teaches you so much about the world and different cultures. In Paris, I fell in love with the coffee and croissants. Visiting places like the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower was amazing. My first trip to Europe was an adventure, especially when I missed my flight home and ended up in Oakland, California, instead of Canada. It was a mess, but I eventually made it back. Since then, I've been back to Europe twice, and I can't wait to go again!

Greece, Spain, Norway, Scotland, and Ireland are next on my list. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me better. I'll be back with more stories and guests soon. Thanks for joining us here on the site for Travel Talk Show. More exciting content coming soon! See you next time, and happy travels!
