My Journey from Podcasting to Traveling: Exploring the World One Story at a Time

Updated: Jul 9

Traveling: More Than Just a Hobby

Today in the podcast, I talked about my journey from dreaming of being a radio broadcaster to becoming a seasoned traveler. I love connecting with people. Over the years, I've enjoyed some amazing travel experiences. From chilling in the Caribbean to exploring Europe, every trip has left timeless memories.

I've visited many historical sites, like Dachau and Rome. I cherish the moments spent enjoying meals and experiences with locals. Through my podcasts, I aim to share more travel stories and inspire you to explore new places.

A Change in Direction

When I was younger, I aspired to become a radio broadcaster. However, when I discovered the pay wasn’t great, I decided to change course. I’ve since enjoyed a varied career. But my passion for travel never faded. I still hold my travel agent's license, which I have maintained for over 25 years.

Now, as I near retirement, I intend to focus more on my true passions: traveling and podcasting. I look forward to connecting with all of you on this journey. On my show, I plan to invite friends and travel professionals to share their amazing experiences. Hopefully, their stories will ignite your interest in travel, too! Combining my love for podcasting and traveling is something I am truly excited about.

My Favorite Travel Experiences

Let's dive into some of my favorite travel experiences! I absolutely adore tropical vacations. I've traveled to the Caribbean more times than I can count. From Jamaica to the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands, each place offers a unique charm. The weather is usually perfect, and the water is always warm. Just be cautious of hurricane season, which runs from June to September. Make sure to get travel insurance!

I also have a soft spot for destinations where you can walk everywhere, particularly in Europe. My first trip to Europe was in 1995. During that trip, I visited Amsterdam, Germany, Italy, France, and Belgium. It coincided with the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. As a history buff, visiting sites such as Anne Frank's house and Dachau was incredibly moving.

When in Rome (one of my top three favorite places), there is simply so much history and incredible food. In the south of France, a delightful coincidence led us to the Cannes Film Festival. We arrived on the perfect dates and made many great connections, creating unforgettable memories.

Lessons Learned Through Travel

Traveling opens your eyes to different cultures. In Paris, I fell in love with the delightful coffee and croissants. Visiting iconic landmarks such as the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower was nothing short of amazing. My first trip to Europe was quite an adventure. I even missed my flight home, ending up in Oakland, California, instead of heading to Canada. It was chaotic, but I eventually made it back home. Since then, I have returned to Europe twice, and I can’t wait to set off again!

Greece, Spain, Norway, Scotland, and Ireland are next on my travel list. I hope this post gives you a glimpse into my passions and experiences. I'll be back with more captivating stories and guests soon. Thank you for being part of our journey here at Travel Talk Show. Exciting content is on the horizon! Until next time, happy travels!
